How to Make an AI Rap Video (Step-by-Step, 2026)

The full DIY pipeline: write bars, generate the track, plan shots, generate visuals, cut and post. Free tools only — your first AI rap video in one evening.

Last updated: 2026-10-23

An AI rap video is a music video where the track, the visuals, or both are AI-generated. In 2026 the format is everywhere: two-photo rap duos, fully generated music videos and lyric clips are pulling millions of views. Here is the complete pipeline — free tools only, one evening, no experience needed.

If you want the shortcut instead of the craft, the two-photo rap duo format takes minutes. This guide is the full version.

What you need

  • A topic for the song — anything you can rant about for 16 bars
  • A free account on a music generator (Suno or Udio)
  • Free credits on a text-to-video model for the scenes
  • CapCut — free, for the edit

Total cost for your first video: zero. Total time: one evening.

Step 1 — Write your bars

Open any notes app or chat assistant and get a draft down. A verse plus a hook is enough; you are not writing an album. This skeleton works:

Write 16 bars of a rap verse about [your topic].
Add a punchy four-line hook that repeats the title phrase.
Keep it fun, clean and performable out loud.

Edit the result until it sounds like something a person would actually say. Clunky lines that you would never rap out loud will haunt the whole video.

Step 2 — Generate the track

Take the lyrics into Suno or Udio in custom mode. Paste the lyrics, then describe the sound in the style field:

boom bap, 90s hip hop, gritty male vocal, 90 BPM

Swap the tags for your vibe: trap, drill, playful cartoon voices, whatever fits the joke. Generate two or three takes and keep the one where the hook lands hardest. Download the audio file — this locked track is now the target every visual has to hit.

Step 3 — Plan six shots

Do not improvise the video shot by shot. List six to eight shots against the song structure and give the hook your two best ideas — the hook is the part people will actually see before clicking away.

SectionShot example
HookRooftop performance, city skyline behind
Verse 1Street cipher, boombox on the stoop
Verse 2Neon club, crowd circling the MC
BridgeDesert highway, leaning out of the window
Hook 2Back to the rooftop, closer
OutroFreeze on the punchline face

Step 4 — Generate the visuals

For each shot, paste a prompt into your video model. Our free prompt library has six ready-made scene prompts — rooftop, cipher, club, desert, warehouse, penthouse — each with the camera language video models respond to.

Pick your aspect ratio deliberately: vertical for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, widescreen for a YouTube upload of the full track. Generate each shot, regenerate the weak ones once, and move on. Perfectionism kills trend windows — the wave moves in weeks.

Step 5 — Cut it together

Import the track first, then the shots. Cut on the beat — every clip change lands on a kick or snare, not between them. Put the strongest hook moment in the first two seconds of the edit. CapCut does auto-captions; turn them on, styled big, because most viewers watch muted first.

Step 6 — Post it

Post vertically to TikTok, Shorts and Reels. Use the platform's AI-content disclosure toggle — it exists, it takes one tap, and it keeps your account clean. Then post the next one. Two or three videos a week beats one perfect video a month on every trend format we have watched.

Frequently asked questions

What if the rapper's lips do not match the words?

Pick your battles: wide shots, silhouettes and cutaway shots of the crowd hide sync gaps completely. Save close-ups for the hook, where you can cherry-pick your best generation. Lip-sync models exist, but treat them as the hard mode, not the default.

Can I monetize AI rap videos?

Usually yes, with the platform's AI disclosure label, provided the music rights are clear — tracks you generated on a tool whose plan allows commercial use are the safe case. Rapping over a licensed beat you did not clear is where channels get struck.

Which format should my first one be?

A lyrics video if you want the fastest win, the rap duo if you have a second person (or a pet) and five minutes, the full music video if you want the craft. All three have guides on this site.
